After replacement of traditional Rajdhani coaches of Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express with the state-of-the-art Tejas class coaches, now the Western Railway has also started the process of replacement of the August Kranti Rajdhani Express. “We have got 110 coaches. Eighteen more are required for running the rest three rakes.

These are expected sometime in August. Only after spare coaches are received, will we be able to introduce smart rakes in August Kranti Rajdhani Express,” said Sumit Thakur, chief public relations officer. He said for the operation of both Rajdhani services, the Western Railway needs five rakes each of 20 to 21 coaches. When asked about the timeline, Thakur said it depended on the availability of the rest of the coaches. “As per the plan, by the end of September 2021, the August Kranti Rajdhani Express will also get Tejas class coaches.”
