Free smartphone and Wi-Fi facility for students opens in south Mumbai

After months of heart-break and exasperation over a deepened digital divide in accessing online education, a teachers’ union has set up three mobile phone libraries for grade 1-10 students. Called Online Education Mobile Library, is equipped with ten smartphones and Wi-Fi connectivity, with drinking water facility and toilets. This free facility has be inaugurated in Imamwada, south Mumbai, on October 14. To maintain social distancing, students will need to book their slots between 9 am and 8 pm. Two other such libraries will soon open at Behram Baug in Bandra East and Mohili village in Sakinaka.
